No Birds About It

This is Jean-Pierre... at least, thats what I call him.

There's a coffeeshop at corner of Tiong Poh Road at Tiong Bahru which serves one of the best Niang Doufu in town. Its a short walk from my office and its no wonder that I enjoy blanking out over steaming cup of strong coffee and my bowl of Doufu.

By as early as half past seven, most of the tables at the coffeeshop'd be occupied by patrons in office attire, slurping up quick bites before heading towards nearby Central Business District for the day's struggles.

If you'd sit long enough as I normally do, way above the drone of passing vehicles and clickety clack of chopsticks, you'd not miss a conundrum of shrill cackles, squacks and high pitched whistling.

And thats Jean-Pierre for you. He's the parrot which sits in a cage at the temple opposite the coffeeshop.

Besides his vocal prowess, he's actually quite handsome to look at, with snowy masquerade ball mask and magenta tail feathers contrasting against ash grey plummage.

I soon found out that Jean-Pierre is capable of other sounds... cat wails, motor honks, mobile ringtones...
These photos of Jean-Pierre are taken with kind permission from his owner..

This is a wild one which I spied on a tree at Watsons Bay in Sydney.

And this is one taken at Royal Botanical Gardens in Sydney

And this one was eating berries off a tree at the Three Sisters Lookout at Blue Mountain.
As you can see, they're all over the place in Australia!!
This is a photo of me and Robin, who's quite affectionate, as you can see. (My friend Jason keeps a pair of parrakeets, Robin and Paris)
