My Water Hyacinths Bloomed!!!

I've got a small 2.5 square feet fibreglass pond on my terrace, which is home to a couple of guppies. I chose livebearers, hoping they'd propagate into a darting crimson school.

But the roof terrace proved too hot. The only thing consistent was an ever expanding muck of algae, which I had trouble clearing every week.

So a few weeks ago I bought a couple of water hyacinths from the local nursery. The idea was to shield the water from sunrays and give the fishes a chance.

Was pleasantly surprised when I popped up to the terrace after a four day hiatus. The hyacinths had flowered. And here're some pics.
